                      Deacon And Hardy Lilac Coaches

The firm of Deacon and Hardy was established in 1924 and was founded by G.S. Deacon and F.C. Hardy. By 1943 W.G. Deacon was in partnership with F.C. Hardy. From March 1964 it was in the hands of W.G. Deacon only as Mr F. C. Hardy had died in December 1963. By 1965 the firm was operating 7 coaches and employed 5 regular drivers, a cleaner and a secretary. It operated an express service for Caterpillar Tractor Co., of Desford from Ashby, Coalville Broomleys, Ibstock, Bagworth, Barlestone and Newbold Verdon. It also had school contracts and operated services to Desford, Merrylees, Bagworth and Nailstone Collieries.

 

          The Rattling Bedstead Was Replaced
